Algoma Telephone Systems Inc. (ATS) was formed in 1979 to market two-way radio products in the district of Algoma. Since then, we have been an integral part of the Algoma region, helping connect families and businesses through security and telephone services.

In 1980 after the CRTC decision to allow competition in the Telephone Interconnect industry, ATS entered this new "Business Telephone Systems" market with the intention of providing a regional source for high quality, economical telecommunications products and services. Our offerings have grown with the industry to include new and innovative products such as VoIP, and include a broad range of data products. We have maintained brand name suppliers as our primary offerings including Toshiba, Nortel and Mitel. Our extensive customer base includes a mix of Provincial and Federal government facilities, larger corporate offices and local businesses. ATS's excellent market share is a result of an emphasis on customer service evidenced through very positive customer references.

In 1992 ATS became the Sault's premier Bell Mobility Cellular outlet. Due to our attention to detail and complete focus on customer service we have grown to serve more business, corporate and government customers than any other cellular outlet in our region. An appointment as the local "Bell Store" soon followed. This new concept in marketing Bell Canada residential and cellular services replaced the Bell Phone Centre locations with a convenient "One Stop Location" for all your residential and business communication requirements. ATS's "Bell" retail store offers such sought after products as Bell Satellite, Bell High Speed Internet, residential and business telephone products, and a wonderful compliment of the latest data innovation products. The store is conveniently located and easily accessible in our expanded facility at 270-276 Bruce Street, Sault Ste. Marie.

In 1995 we expanded ATS to include our Alarm Monitoring Service. This service provides efficient, professional alarm monitoring for businesses and residences.

ATS further expanded this division in 1997 by entering the sales, service and installation of Business and Residential alarm systems, following our tradition of providing a complete "End to End" service. Our alarm offerings now include Burglary, Fire, Medical and Panic systems. A specialization in CCTV and Card Access systems has made us a leader in the field of providing a secure environment for our customers.

ATS reached an agreement with Bell Canada in October of 2000 to act as a "Bell Certified Partner" to market Bell Business Solutions to the business community. Our solutions approach begins with consultation on existing services, such as cost analysis on telephone lines on through to design and implementation of customized data circuits, long distance packages and high speed internet service. Once again ATS has maintained a satisfied local, regional, and provincial customer base. It has been a boon to our client base to serve them with the "complete package" of communication solutions.

From the onset of the creation of our business was developed with one goal in mind; to offer a professional and convenient "One Stop Communications Shop" for customers, where quality products and services are our offering and outstanding customer service is always our priority. As such ATS has been a contributing part of the local economy for over Thirty Six Years, and has grown from the initial staff of three to a much larger complement of committed individuals. In 2021, ATS increased its technology offerings by providing greater capabilities to its customers. These offerings include technology services such as: 

• Infrastructure sales and support (server, network, home office)
• IT planning (virtual CIO, project management)”
